Vanpool FAQs

“I don’t drive. Can I still vanpool?”

Absolutely! Vanpools choose a driver and a back-up driver; everyone else can chat, read, or relax.

“How much does it cost?”

It depends how far the pool travels, and how many riders are splitting the cost. If you travel 25+ miles each way and fill most seats, renting a van costs each rider less than driving alone!

Ask providers for a written estimate, based on your specific trip; there’s no obligation. Plus, it gets others interested when they see how affordable it is.

How are riders chosen?

With RideOn, who you pool with is always up to you. The Driver/ Back-up Driver usually serve as the point of contact when filling seats. A try-out week can let everyone see how the arrangement works for them.

RideOn is happy to offer tips from decades experience with happy, successful pools. Just ask!

Where do vans pick up?

Your van provider will help you to find a safe, convenient place to park the vehicle.

Your group decides where you’ll meet: at the van, a Park & Ride lot, or door-to-door pick-ups.

What about maintenance, insurance, etc?

The monthly fee includes everything, including fuel—easy! Service is arranged to fit your schedule, with a replacement van provided, if needed.

The Driver/Back-up Driver are responsible only for gassing up (a fuel card is provided), and ensuring the vehicle is clean.
