Top Tips for a Cool Pool

Before you agree to share the ride, we recommend you meet up for a coffee, or at least have a chat.

Once you know your schedules will work, make sure you’re on the same page about:

  • Sharing costs—you can take turns driving or chip in to cover gas. Decide for yourselves what works for you, and when payment is due.
  • Schedule—decide where and when to meet, and be on time (some pools agree on a 5 minute limit for waiting). Talk about how your group will communicate in case of the unexpected (car trouble, illness, etc), and have a backup plan in place.
  • Safety—seatbelts, speed limits, and an undistracted driver; because it’s the law.

Once you’re in a pool, consideration is key! Talk about music, food or drink, allergies, even quiet vs. conversation. Be flexible but, if you’re uncomfortable, it’s important to speak up!

If the pool isn’t working out, simply give each other a few days’ notice so there’s time to make other arrangements.
